[plant morphology] gourd tea

Subshrub, about 1m high, erect and branched. The branches are four sided and coarsely hairy. Single leaf, alternate, ovate oblong, oblong to lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, apex short pointed, base rounded, bald above, hairy on the main veins below; petiole 1-3 cm long, broad winged, wing 4-8 mm wide, isomorphic with leaf; stipules 2, lanceolate, up to 15 mm long, linear, falling off. Raceme terminal or axillary, 15-30 cm long; bracts small, conic; flowers numerous, lavender, ca. 5 mm long; calyx broad campanulate, ca. 3 mm long, below cleft teeth linear; corolla butterfly shaped, flag petal round, apex slightly concave, wing petal attached to keel petal; stamen 10, 2-body; pistil 1, style curved. The pod is about 2-5 cm long, with 5-8 pod nodes, bare or hairy, and nearly square pod nodes. The flowering period is July. The fruit period is from August to October.

It grows in the grass of barren slope and low hilly land. It is distributed in Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, Guangdong, etc.

[collection] in summer and autumn, the aboveground parts were cut, the thick branches were removed and dried in the sun.

[medicinal material] it is dry and the stem is broken, about 30 cm long and 0.5 cm thick. The old stem is reddish brown, the thin stem is reddish brown, triangular, and the edges are coarsely hairy. Leaf blade reddish brown, leathery, petiole winged, connected with leaf blade. It is fragrant and slightly sweet. It is better to have many leaves, dry, green with red color and no thick stem.

Produced in Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.

[chemical composition] the leaves contain tannin 7.1-8.6%, silica 0.5-2.32% and potassium oxide 1.3-3.0%.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1.5 Liang. External use: daub with mashed juice or wash with fried water.

[clinical application] treatment of hookworm disease

Take half a jin of Hulu tea (dry product), add 800 ml water, and fry it gently until 250 ml. Take it twice on an empty stomach in the morning and evening. 276 cases were treated, 183 cases were cured and 93 cases were invalid. Only a few cases had nausea and vomiting.
