Xibo Costume

The early clothing materials of Xibo nationality were mainly animal skins such as deer and pig, which paid more attention to the function of cold protection and warmth preservation. Changes in clothing

In the Qing Dynasty, Xibo men's clothing liked to use green, gray, blue, brown and other colors, and the style of clothing was basically the same as Manchu's. For the convenience of riding, labor and operation, they wear left and right open-ended long robes and short jackets, with a jacket on top, loose legged trousers on the bottom, leg belts and girdles. On the girdles, they often hang cigarette bags and purse bags, wear cloth boots, and wear hat (summer), felt hat (winter) or top hat. Officials usually wear a Chinese jacket on the robes.

Girls and unmarried girls, a long braid, with all kinds of "wool" braid root, do not cut hair curtain, head, braid love to wear some flowers, ear wear gold (silver) earrings, wearing elegant and beautiful cheongsam. At the wedding ceremony, the bride wears a gitaku (Xibe headdress, i.e. cloth hairring), with shells, gemstones and gold and silver ornaments on it, and the next row of silver chains or beads on her eyebrows. Within one year after marriage, you should still wear gitaku when you take part in big festive activities.

The dress of daughter-in-law is no different from that of a girl, but it is more colorful than that of a girl. The hairstyle is also different. The daughter-in-law combs a "panlongji", with "bangs" in front of her forehead and "swallow tail" behind her head. The black hair on her head is covered up in a bun shape. In daily life, the braid is combed into a double braid or two "Paji" to form a big "pimple bun". Hair oil, no head oil, with elm skin bubble water is thick and bright. Women wear earrings, bracelets, rings, etc. Both men and women wore black leg bands, while young women wore red and pink leg bands, and white leg bands at funerals. Today, Xibo people's clothing scattered in Northeast China is the same as that of Han and Manchu people. Although Xibo women in Xinjiang still like to wear Qipao, their skirts, hems and cuffs are mostly rimmed and long enough to reach their feet, their dress has changed significantly, especially for young people who wear dresses. Men wear a pair of T-shirts, trouser legs tied tightly at the ankles, and also wear a wide open robe in winter.

When the elderly women go out, they have to hold a cigarette bag in their hand, and when they visit, they will pack cigarettes into each other.

Xibo women are good at embroidery, just as men can ride and shoot. If women can't embroider, they will be despised. Most of the embroidery patterns are flowers, birds, fish and insects.
