The improved version of China's AG50 light sport aircraft has successfully made its maiden flight

According to the Russian Labor Daily website on December 10th, the improved model of China's new generation light sport aircraft AG50 has successfully completed its first flight

On December 9th, the improved AG50 light sport aircraft took off for the first time from Jingmen Airport in Hubei Province. China Aviation Industry Corporation stated that the aircraft is flying smoothly and all systems are working properly. The company pointed out that the first flight situation indicates that the improvement work for AG50 has been completed, and the aircraft has officially entered the stage of demonstrating compliance through test flight verification

According to Liu Chong, the chief designer of the AG50 project, the improved wing fuel tank has a larger capacity compared to the previous AG50. In addition, the maximum range of the improved model has been increased from 650 kilometers to 1200 kilometers

Liu Chong also stated that in order to improve performance, the designers optimized the tail and rudder, and added navigation lights to the wing tips

China Aviation Industry Corporation stated that based on market feedback and customer demand, the company will launch the AG50 improvement project in February 2023

The AG50 two seater light sport aircraft was developed by the Special Aircraft Research Institute of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China and made its maiden flight in August 2020. It is suitable for use by airlines, aviation clubs, and individuals, and can also be used for pilot training. The development unit claims that this aircraft can also be used for agricultural and forestry work in the future
