Academician Wang Zhengguo, the academic leader of "Field Surgery", has passed away

Comrade Wang Zhengguo, a member of the CPC, an academician of the CAE Member, one of the main founders of China's research on impact injury, trauma ballistics and traffic medicine, the academic leader of the national key discipline "field surgery", and a former researcher of the Third Affiliated Hospital (Field Surgery Research Institute) of the Third Military Medical University, died in Shanghai on January 5, 2025 at the age of 89

Wang Zhengguo, male, Han nationality, born on December 12, 1935 in Zhangzhou, Fujian, Anhui Province, China. He joined the CPC in November 1953 and joined the military in December 1950 to study in the military medical period of China Medical University. After graduation in 1956, he worked in the Field Surgery Institute of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences and the Third Affiliated Hospital of the Third Military Medical University (Field Surgery Institute). Wang Zhengguo has been committed to the basic theory and applied basic research of war trauma for nearly 70 years. He has systematically elucidated the mechanism and prevention measures of shock wave injury for the first time internationally, and was the first in China to propose the mechanism and prevention principles of high-speed projectile injury, making outstanding contributions to the development of war trauma medicine in China
