By the end of 2019, Nanchong has 10 cultural centers, 242 cultural stations and 10 public libraries. There are 8 museums, 28 cultural relics protection and management institutions, 18 national key cultural relics protection units, 112 provincial-level cultural relics protection units, and 500 municipal and county-level cultural relics protection units. There are 5 national intangible cultural heritage and 29 provincial intangible cultural heritage.
By the end of 2019, Nanchong has 7 radio and television stations, 12 medium and short wave transmitting stations and relay stations. The comprehensive coverage rate of broadcasting is 99.29%, and that of television is 99.42%. 427300 cable TV users. Five kinds of local newspapers were published throughout the year, with a publishing volume of 44.9276 million copies, and 4 kinds of periodicals with a publishing volume of 2.8377 million copies.
By the end of 2019, Nanchong has one archive, including one national comprehensive archive. The archives put 370952 volumes (pieces) of files together, an increase of 2% over 2018. The national comprehensive archives opens 59904 volumes (pieces) of all kinds of archives to the public.
