There are nearly 1000 species of vertebrate resources in Yibin City. Among them, there are 70 species of mammals in 23 families; 306 species of birds in 16 orders, 46 families; 34 species of reptiles in 2 orders, 9 families; 29 species of amphibians; and 151 species of fishes in 89 genera and 16 families. There are 52 species of national first and second class protected animals. Among them, there are 8 species of Sichuan partridge, black necked Crane, leopard, clouded leopard, forest musk deer, Chinese sturgeon, white sturgeon and Acipenser dabryi; and 44 species of class II protected animals are Tibetan macaque, macaque, pangolin, black bear, great civet, lesser civet, blue sheep, gazelle, red bellied pheasant, goshawk, red footed falcon, golden pheasant, giant salamander and cochineal fish.
