Liu Chenghan holds a bachelor's degree in film from San Francisco State University and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California. Since 1976, he has been a producer and director of television and film in Hong Kong. He has also been a producer of Shaw company, a director of TVB and CATV, a deputy program manager of Liddy TV, a planner of Hong Kong International Film Festival and a film consultant of Hong Kong government, a judge of Hong Kong Film Awards and a judge of Czech Film Awards. From 1986 to 1992, he edited and directed the ICAC TV series. From 1992 to 2006, he was the director of the Department of production supervision, editing and directing of the Hong Kong Academy for performing arts, film and television. He is now a guest teacher in the school of film and television, Baptist University. He has published many articles on film criticism and film theory, which have been translated into English, French, German and Italian. He is the author of the book Fu Bi Xing Ji.
