Yuan Yang'an (1905-1994) is a director, film and television producer, and a giant in publishing and film circles. He was born in dinghaicheng, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from the Law School of Soochow University and was a lawyer. He was the principal of Shanghai law society and the principal of East China Christian Association middle school. In the early 1930s, he served as the chairman of Shanghai Liangyou book publishing company, publishing the Liangyou series, Liangyou pictorial and the picture album of Chinese style. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he went to Hong Kong to set up great wall film production Co., Ltd. as the general manager and director.
