In March 1933, the "Shanghai National Society for self help against humiliation" was established, and he Yun was appointed as the propaganda minister of the organization. In June of the same year, he was arrested by the military police headquarters of the Kuomintang in Shanghai. After the outbreak of the national anti Japanese war in 1937, the Kuomintang authorities had to release He Yun after the active rescue by the party organization.

In 1938, the CPC Central Committee decided to establish Xinhua Daily, and he Yun was transferred to Hankou to participate in the preparatory work and serve as the International Edition. In December of the same year, the North China branch of Xinhua Daily was established, and he Yun was the director (president) and general manager of the branch management committee.

On the new year's day of 1939, Xinhua Daily, the official newspaper of the North Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, was born. From then on, he Yun led the staff of the newspaper office to report the Anti Japanese army and people's struggle against the enemy in North China in a timely manner, while fighting guerrillas and publishing newspapers and the news of Yan'an Xinhua news agency.

In August 1940, the Eighth Route Army launched the famous hundred regiments war. With the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army and Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping of the 129th division, he Yun went to the front line to organize field news interviews, and spread the battle news on the line of fire, reviewing manuscripts, engraving and distributing them as quickly as possible. He played a great role in boosting the morale of the troops and publicizing the victory of the hundred regiments. In the cruel struggle against the enemy, although newspapers often moved, the publication of newspapers never stopped. The North China Edition of Xinhua Daily was called by the army and the people in the Anti Japanese base area behind the enemy as "the wise ear of the people in North China, the wise eye of the people in North China, the mouthpiece of the people in North China" and "the guide of the Anti Japanese War in North China".

At dawn on May 25, 1942, he Yun led more than 200 people of the newspaper to leave Shanzhuang village, cross Dongshan and move to zhuangziling. On the afternoon of May 27, he Yun called a meeting and decided to break up the whole into parts. At dawn on the 28th, he Yun died at the age of 38.
