Wei tie, born in Huangshi, Hubei Province in 1979, is a film director and screenwriter in mainland China. He graduated from the school of photography of Beijing Film Academy and the Department of literature of Beijing Film Academy.
In 2002, the short story "Huangshi Avenue" directed by Wei tie was selected into the exhibition of new generation directors in China. In 2005, he made the documentary "people on the Yangtze River". In 2006, he wrote and directed the feature film far away, which was selected into the "new wave" competition unit of the 11th Busan International Film Festival. In 2009, he made the documentary "fairy tale", which was selected into the documentary competition unit of the 14th Pusan International Film Festival and the competition unit of the 32nd French real film festival. In 2010, the joint screenplay "anatomy of crime" was shortlisted in the venture capital unit of the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival. In the same year, Yu Lu, a co directed film, was selected into the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival. In 2018, the documentary "awesome, our country" directed by him was released in the mainland of China. In 2019, he wrote and directed the film Roman marriage.
Acting experience
In 2001, Wei tie took his classmates from Beijing Film Academy to Huangshi to shoot the short story "Huangshi Avenue", which was discovered by director Jia Zhangke and invited to participate in the joint exhibition.
