Early experience

Liu Yan's father is a judge in Hohhot and his mother is a doctor. His grandparents named him "Yan", hoping that his granddaughter would be as strong as a mountain and a stone. In 1985, at the age of three, Liu Yan began to study fine arts and then violin.

In 1991, I went to Inner Mongolia song and dance troupe to learn dance with teacher Bai Ying. Soon, under the teacher's suggestion, he applied to Beijing Dance Academy for professional study. The admission notice was received in September.

From 1993 to 2003, he studied in the middle school attached to Beijing Dance Academy and went to university. In 2008, he was injured during the rehearsal of the Olympic Games. After being injured, he became a teacher of northern dance. His first course was comparative study of hand movements between Chinese classical dance and Indian classical dance. Later, she expanded her research in this area and got her research direction during her doctoral education. She studied the sign language, Buddhist fingerprints, Peking Opera and hand movements of the deaf in China. It is a new direction to study classical dance from hand dance in China.

Come back in 2009. In March, Liu Yan won the award of "China's best performing actress of the year" announced by the second "public image satisfaction survey of China's performing celebrities", which was awarded by director Zhang Yimou and singer song Zuying; in June, Liu Yan participated in the launching ceremony of the 2009 "dance dream children's circle" Chinese dance love action, and was awarded the title of "love ambassador" by China Dancers Association.

In 2010, he applied for the doctoral degree in dance science of China Academy of Arts.

On May 12, 2013, he served as a judge in the finals of Wulin competition for hegemony.

In 2014, she returned to the podium of Beijing Dance Academy to teach classical dance and choreographer students, and the theme of her course was her main research direction during her doctoral education - "Research on Chinese classical hand dance".

Set up a fund

In March 2010, with the support of the China literature and art foundation, the "Liu Yan literature and art special fund" was established, which is mainly used to support and subsidize the basic art education of primary schools in poor areas, as well as help some orphans and children of migrant workers, so that they have more opportunities to contact dance art. The initial work of "Liu Yan special fund for literature and art" is to offer dance training courses in Fangshan District Children's welfare center and Tongzhou Guangai school.

On December 17, 2010, the charity auction of Liu Yan special fund for literature and art was held in Beijing.

Launch "2011 good Dance Tour"

On April 11 and 12, 2011, Liu Yan visited Fangshan welfare center and Tongzhou Guangai orphanage school on behalf of "Liu Yan special fund for literature and art" and teachers of Beijing Dance Academy grading examination center, bringing the first professional dance class to the children of welfare center and orphanage. Liu Yan said that she hopes to make children happy in the process of learning dance, which also marks the official launch of her "2011 good dance trip" public education action.
