Zheng Zhiyong

Zheng Zhiyong, male, Han nationality, born in May 1963, graduated from Shandong University in 1991 with a doctor's degree. He was the dean of School of mathematics and systems science, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

He is now the dean of School of mathematics, Renmin University of China.

Scientific research achievements

Analytic number theory and algebraic number theory have made breakthrough contributions in the fields of geometric theory of exponential sum and characteristic sum and analytic theory of function field. They have partially improved the classical results of index and upper bound estimation by Professor A. Weil and Professor Hua Luogeng, and received attention and praise from the international academic circles. They were invited to give a summary report at the "Millennium Number Theory Conference" held in the United States.

Honor Award

In 1996, it was funded by the national fund for Distinguished Youth, in 2000, it was continued funded by the national fund for Distinguished Youth, and in 2003, it was funded by category B of the national fund for Distinguished Youth. Research direction

In order to analyze the number theory, Professor J. bourgain, winner of the fields prize, and Professor Igor. E. shaparlinski, academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences, have made a breakthrough contribution to the geometric theory of exponential sum and characteristic sum, which has been highly valued by the international academic circles. They have cited Zheng Zhiyong's work for more than 60 times, which is very rare in the field of number theory. Recently, a breakthrough has been made in the geometric theory and analytical method of function field. By using Haar measure and Haar integral, the problem of high-dimensional rational approximation on local field with positive characteristics has been successfully solved, which creates a new situation for the study of number theory on function field.

Appointment and removal information

On June 30, 2018, Renmin University of China learned that Renmin University of China established a school of mathematics, and Professor Zheng Zhiyong, former dean of School of mathematics and systems science of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was employed as the first Dean of School of mathematics of Renmin University of China.
