Li Bian is a famous zither player and educator. He is a national first-class actor of China Coal Mine Art Troupe, a member of China Musicians Association, executive director of China National Orchestra Society, executive director of China guzheng society, and member of national guzheng Expert Committee.

In 1989, 1995 and 2001, he was the judge of China International Musical Instrument competition. From 2002 to 2012, he was the judge of national folk music "Wenhua Award" competition and Chinese music "Golden Bell Award" guzheng competition held by the Ministry of culture.
