Changtianwan Township

Changtianwan township is located in the south of Chenxi County, adjacent to fushuiwan township of Xupu County and Xianrenwan township of Chenxi County in the East, Huaqiao town of Zhongfang County of Huaihua City in the south, Xiaolongmen Township in the west, Huomachong town and Siqian Town in the north, with a total area of 90.76 square kilometers (2017). Because changtianwan township is located at the junction of Chenxi County, Xupu County and Huaihua City, its location advantage is particularly obvious, its economy is very active, there are many private enterprises in the territory, and its commercial activities are frequent. Especially since the construction of Changfu highway, it has become the traffic link of two counties and one city.

Changtianwan township is a subtropical monsoon climate, surrounded by mountains on three sides, with warm and humid air, abundant rainfall and pleasant climate. There are abundant forest resources in the township, with a forest coverage rate of 70% and a total forest area of 80000 mu, including more than 6000 mu of reforestation such as returning farmland to forest and industrial raw material forest. There are well preserved ancient trees and scenic forests with a hundred year history. The area is rich in mineral resources, including coal, iron, antimony, kaolin, especially coal and antimony. Changtianwan township is a typical agricultural township. There is a medium-sized reservoir, which was built in 1966 and completed in 1972, with a storage capacity of 22.7 million cubic meters. The irrigation area includes Xiaolongmen, Siqian, Huomachong, Anping, shimawan, qiaotouxi and Shibi. There are three small reservoirs: tianxingtang, qinglongxi and luzichong. There are more than 50 big and small ponds and more than 10 electric irrigation stations. There are six standard anti-seepage channels, with a total length of more than 30 kilometers . The main crops and fruits planted in the area include rice, corn, peanut, sweet potato, garlic, citrus, persimmon, pear, red bayberry, etc. Famous local products are persimmon, chestnut, songru, garlic, bamboo shoots, etc.

Changtianwan Township governs 16 administrative villages, including laowutai, fengxiangping, leijiapo, fangjiawan, changtianwan, laoyuanzi, Tieshan, Yanlu village, yanqiaoping, helongping, shuiluping, Pangshan, mawangtang, yaertang, hoetouping, Shinan village, 157 villager groups and 3679 households, with a total population of 14890 (2017), mainly Han nationality, 134 ethnic minorities, mostly Yao nationality. The folk customs are simple, and the amateur spiritual life of the masses is quite rich. Dancing dragon lanterns and singing opera (Chenhe Gaoqiang) are still handed down in Yuanyuan of the township.
