The riverside banana wharf, formerly known as banana shed, stands in Kaohsiung harbor for nearly half a century and is now one of the historical buildings in Kaohsiung City. In the 1950s, Taiwan exported a large number of bananas to Japan, earning a lot of foreign exchange. At that time, almost all the bananas transported from all over the country were arranged by Kaohsiung port. In order to improve the quality of bananas, the government expanded a double-layer banana shed at No. 3 Wharf in 1952. The main building is more densely spaced than the general warehouse, and because of the ventilation of banana storage space, it is built in the open air, which is the only open warehouse in Kaohsiung port.
