Introduction to Salar Costumes:
Applicant: Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province
It has been more than 700 years since the ancestors of Salar moved eastward from Ju nationality in Central Asia, and their clothing still retains the style of nomadic people in Central Asia. Salar men wear black and white caps, white T-shirts, black shawls, black and red ribbons around their waists, black and blue crotch pants, and cloth shoes. In winter, most of them wear white sheepskin short fur jacket or woolen brown sweater, and light, strong, warm and warm cowhide felt boots "luoti". The rich will wear silk or cloth A lambskin fur coat with a cloth cover. During the worship, the Salar elderly men have a set of special clothes, usually wearing a white headscarf "dasdar" and a "Zhongbai" gown.
Salar women usually wear long clothes and hoods, and their heads only show their faces. For young girls and women who have not been married for a long time, the cover is green; for women who have been married for a long time or have children, the cover is black; for women over 50 years old or whose parents or husbands have died, the cover is white. Salar women like to wear bracelets, earrings, rings and other jewelry. When they work, they wrap their heads with green cloth, and in festive festivals, they also put on spacious capes with lace.
Folk embroidery is an indispensable part of Salar's clothing culture. Salar's Embroidery began with simple peony purse, and gradually developed into flower and bird, fish, landscape and other styles. In some specific embroidery products, such as pillows, belts, sock soles, embroidered shoes and insoles, the patterns are especially rich.
Salar costume is closely related to its national history, which has the characteristics of both Turkic and Mongolian costumes preserved from ancient times and agricultural culture. As an important embodiment of national culture, Salar costume is an important basis for studying Salar origin and nationality.
