Brief introduction of Li nationality's clothing:
Applicant: Hainan Institute of Nationalities
Based on the traditional spinning, dyeing, weaving and embroidery of the Li nationality, the Li nationality's costumes, which are popular in Hainan Province, are woven and sewn with sea island cotton, hemp, kapok, bark fiber and silk, and have a history of thousands of years.
The traditional costumes of Li nationality are made of brocade with various patterns and colors. It has more than 160 kinds of patterns, including six types of patterns: human, animals, flowers, plants, utensils and geometric figures. Li's traditional costumes are rooted in Li's social life. Their content and form are harmonious and unified. They show distinctive local characteristics and rich national cultural connotation. They have extremely important reference value in the study of Li's social development history, folk customs, religious beliefs, production and life in Hainan.
With the accelerating process of modernization, the self-sufficient natural economic system of Li Nationality in Hainan has been destroyed. In this situation, fewer and fewer people master the traditional spinning, dyeing, weaving and embroidery skills. The inheritance of Li nationality's clothing has been seriously impacted and is in danger of disappearing. It is urgent to rescue and protect.
