[source] it is the rhizome and root of glutinous rice. See "japonica rice" for plant morphology.
[collection] the rice is harvested and dug. Remove stumps, wash and dry.
[medicinal materials] the dried rhizomes and roots cluster into oval or semicircular masses. The rhizomes are conical, yellowish brown, very short, up to 1 cm long, 3-6 mm in diameter, with a round hollow stem base at the upper end, surrounded by leaf sheaths and numerous fibrous roots; the fibrous roots are 10-15 cm long, about 1 mm thick, brownish yellow or yellowish white in appearance, with sparse longitudinal wrinkles, and sometimes It has very fine branched roots. It is very soft, tough and curved, with yellow white cross section. It has slight odor and light taste. Dry, long root, yellowish brown and stemless leaves are preferred.

[clinical application] treatment of Malay filariasis
The decoction was made from glutinous rice root and taken orally twice a day. The daily dosage of crude drugs is 1 liang, 2 liang, 4 liang, 8 Liang, 1 Jin and 2 jin. The course of treatment is 3-10 days. A total of 389 cases were observed. The average negative conversion rate of microfilariae was more than 80%. It is preliminarily considered that although the effect of low dose and long course of treatment (1-2 taels per day, 10 days) is good, the course of treatment is longer; the effect of high dose and short course of treatment (2 kg per day, 3 days) is also good, but some patients have reactions (mainly fever and chills, headache and dizziness, nausea and lymph node swelling) after taking medicine; the effect of medium dose and medium course of treatment (0.5-1 kg per day, 5 days) is good and without the above shortcomings, so it can be used as clinical application The dose standard of the drug was determined. Whether the drug is effective or not remains to be studied, but according to the reaction of 18 cases of lymphadenopathy on the back of hand or groin 2-3 days after taking the drug, it seems that the drug also has certain killing effect on adults.
Then use 4 liang of glutinous rice root to fry in water. Two times a day, 20 days as a course of treatment (if necessary, can be extended). 8 cases of chyluria were treated. Results 4 cases were cured, 3 cases were improved and 1 case was invalid.
