Ji Desheng snake medicine is a traditional Chinese patent medicine developed from the six generations of secret prescriptions handed down by Ji Desheng, a famous snake medicine expert in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. In 1954, Ji Desheng resolutely decided to present the secret recipe of snake medicine made by the efforts of six generations of Ji's family to the people's government. First, it was produced in small quantities in Nantong Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine. In 1957, the city government designated Nantong pharmaceutical factory to produce it exclusively. Up to now, it has never stopped for more than 50 years. Ji Desheng snake medicine from family hand-made production through continuous improvement to transition to industrial production, pharmaceutical technology by the rigorous process of raw materials before processing technology and the process of proprietary medicine after the collection of characteristics, production technology is improving, the essence of traditional technology remains, product quality continues to improve, production and sales steadily increased, users throughout the country, and gradually enter the overseas. Market, especially in Southeast Asian countries enjoy a high reputation. In the 1960s, it was used as a resource source for the war of resistance against the United States and Aid Vietnam, and it was used by the Chinese people's Liberation Army as a war preparation drug.

At present, Jidesheng snake medicine has been included in the national essential medicine list and widely used in China.
