Huizhou Folk House is the main type of Chinese traditional architectural art, and its traditional construction technology has important historical and cultural value. Huizhou traditional residential building technology is a typical manifestation of Huizhou culture. It has been handed down from generation to generation in Huizhou area of Anhui Province, showing strong local characteristics and high academic and artistic value.

Huizhou traditional residential construction technology has a long history, which can be traced back to the Qin and Han Dynasties, when the construction mainly used the structure of "wear bucket". In the Song Dynasty, the combination of Chuandou style and lifting beam style greatly improved the construction skills. In the Ming Dynasty, Huizhou dwellings appeared the layout of courtyard and the architectural form of three rooms and five frames, and basically formed a fixed program. Huizhou residential construction skills thus tend to be stable, oral way of teaching from generation to generation in the apprentice.

With the help of saws, chisels, rulers, knives, boards, hammers, shovels and other tools, Huizhou construction craftsmen show their skills and cooperate with each other in the process of building traditional dwellings. Craftsmen from all walks of life have a clear division of labor, such as iron and kiln craftsmen who provide building materials for housing construction, brick, wood and stone craftsmen who cooperate with each other and are specifically responsible for construction. Huizhou wood carving, brick carving and stone carving are the essence of Huizhou's ancient architecture. The art of color painting has also been well applied in architecture, and has added immense splendor to traditional Huizhou folk houses.
