Brief introduction of traditional cotton textile technology (Uygur palazi Textile Technology)
Applicant: Baicheng County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Palazi, Uyghur, means a kind of plain woolen goods. It can be used to sew carpet without tufting, Wai Zi, Kang Wei Zi, pocket and saddle bag (called "huoerjun" in Uighur). In Xinjiang, where Uygur people live and produce, we can see the figure of palazi textile. This kind of textile technology is more prominent in Heiyingshan township of Baicheng County, especially in mingbulake village. About half of the housewives (more than 120) in the village master the skills of palazi weaving.
The raw materials used by the Uygur palazi textile in Heiyingshan township are rich. Although there are not many kinds of designs and colors, the technology is ancient and has local characteristics. Its dyeing materials are special and rare, including fresh walnut skin, fresh pomegranate skin, dandelion, black marshmallow, colored ore, etc. the dyed fabric is simple, generous, calm, natural, and has the natural flavor of plant juice.
The textile technology of palazi in Heiyingshan township is very special. The process flow of material selection, coloring, thread forming and textile constitute a complete set of textile technology. Due to the continuous impact of industrialization, the old inheritors have died one after another, and the Uygur palazi textile technology is also facing an endangered situation. It is urgent to provide a good inheritance environment for a few representative inheritors such as paretamu Turdi.
