Introduction to cork painting:
Applicant: Fuzhou City, Fujian Province
Cork painting, also known as "wood painting", is a popular cork carving craft in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. It was formed in the early 20th century and originated in Xiyuan village in the eastern suburb of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. At that time, some works similar to "wood painting" flowed into China from Germany. Inspired by this, Chen chunrun, the chief teacher and famous woodcarving teacher of Fuzhou arts and Crafts Institute, Wu Qiqi, the woodcarving technician, and Zheng Lixi, the architectural pattern board technician, fully absorbed the advantages of Western art, combined it with traditional Chinese woodcarving techniques, and concentrated on developing a new softwood painting technique. It uses cork cork from oak trees imported from Spain, Portugal and Arabia as raw materials. When it is made, the cork, which is light, loose, elastic and has fine texture, is first cut into thin slices. Then, it uses various traditional carving techniques, instead of writing with a knife, and is carefully carved by hand to form a complex picture with fine texture, and then decorated with pavilions with national style At the same time, the limited space in the frame is used to create the three-dimensional effect of the scenery.
Cork painting is originated from nature. The painting is characterized by the brushwork of the Song Dynasty. The scene is vivid, the artistic conception is high and profound, and the style is clear and elegant. It shows the artistic realm of "hundreds of miles of mountains, all in one frame". It is known as "silent poetry, three-dimensional painting". Since 1959, the Great Hall of the people in Beijing has invited cork artists to Beijing four times to decorate the Fujian hall and Taiwan hall. They have publicly displayed a number of excellent works of cork paintings, such as Wuyi scenery, Fuzhou West Lake, Ludao scenery, Quanzhou East West Tower and Tulou wonder.
