In 1894, the descendants of Mongolians living in chongwai flower market area of Beijing often improved their mother's technique of making mud grapes and created the technique of making glass grapes. The glass grapes are famous for their vivid images in the capital city, and are called "grape often". The work of "grape Chang" was appreciated by Cixi, who once inscribed "heavenly righteousness Chang", and later won the prize at the Panama International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. Because of family reasons, the Chang family established the family rule of "pass on the female, not the male, pass on the inside, not the outside". With the changes of the times, "grape Chang" has experienced ups and downs for several times, and now it has been handed down to the fifth generation.

During the production, they go through 11 processes, such as chemical material, blowing, stem making, leaf making and fiber making, coloring, waxing, frosting and storage. Among them, the grape coloring, hanging frost for family skills. As the only glass grape production process in Beijing and even in China, it has been popular since the Qing Dynasty and has a wide influence in the whole country. It is a typical representative of traditional folk crafts.
