Bian Embroidery, also known as song embroidery, is a traditional embroidery art popular in Kaifeng, Henan Province. It is named after Kaifeng, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Bianjing embroidery industry flourished and reached a very high level of skill. Therefore, the record of Dream China in Tokyo has the reputation of "Jinbi shooting, Jinxiu Jiaohui". In 1127, Kaifeng was conquered by Jin soldiers, and Song Shi moved to the south. After that, Kaifeng's economy collapsed and the embroidery industry gradually declined. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, several generations of Bian Embroidery artists made great efforts to explore and sort out the embroidery skills of Song Dynasty, and drew on the advantages of other kinds of embroidery, such as Suzhou embroidery and Xiang embroidery, summed up 36 kinds of Bian embroidery stitches, which made the Bian embroidery technology more perfect and mature. Bian Embroidery is good at making traditional themes such as flowers, birds, insects, fish, birds and animals, and is also good at imitating famous paintings.
