Introduction to DUI brocade (Shangdang Dui brocade)
Applicant: Duijin Research Institute, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province
Shangdang Dui brocade, commonly known as "Changzhi Dui flower", is a unique traditional handicraft in Shangdang area of Shanxi Province (now Changzhi City). In the 707 year of emperor Zhongzong of Tang Dynasty, Li Longji, who was granted the title of king of Linzi, took up the post of Biejia in Luzhou (now Changzhi City). He brought the stacking silk craft made of silk from the court to Shangdang area, and then it flowed into the folk. After more than a thousand years of practice and exploration, he gradually formed the exquisite stacking silk craft of Shangdang. Since the 20th century, there have been a number of outstanding artists of Dui brocade. In the early 1970s, Gong studied hard and innovated on the basis of inheriting the tradition, which further developed the craft of stacking brocade. The present shangdangdui brocade presents a new look with the characteristics of the times on the premise of maintaining the unique elegant beauty of silk art. Its products not only have the charm of traditional Chinese painting, but also have the shaping effect of oil painting. At the same time, it also produces a three-dimensional sense of relief. Through the selection of materials and processing, shangdangdui brocade can not decay and fade, which makes it more long-term preservation in the world and later.
