Introduction to sipingdiao

Huaibei flower drum has a history of nearly 300 years, popular in Northern Anhui, Northern Jiangsu, northeast Henan and Southwest Shandong. In Qing Dynasty, Huagu opera was repeatedly banned. In order to survive, artists changed its name to "civilized Huagu" and "Huagu Dingdang". Later, based on pingdiao, a Huagu opera, it absorbed part of the aria of Pingju, Yuju and Peking Opera, and was accompanied by string music to form "four pindiao". Because of its stable singing style and the combination of four melodies, it is also called "sipingdiao". Huaibei Huagu evolved into sipingdiao, ending her singing career at the stall and performing on the stage. Sipingdiao is famous for its good singing skills. The body performance is self-contained, with Gaohu as the main accompaniment instrument.

There are more than 200 kinds of plays in sipingdiao, which come from the folk and have a strong flavor of life. Over the past hundred years, sipingdiao has become more and more mature in the process of development and change, accumulating a large number of valuable artistic materials. At present, it is difficult for sipingdiao to survive and its prospect is worrying. There are many professional theatrical troupes in Shandong Province. At present, only Chengwu sipingdiao troupe still insists on performing for many years. The performance of other amateur theatrical troupes is not ideal. In this situation, it is necessary to take positive measures to rescue and protect this excellent folk opera.
