Brief introduction of Gaojia Opera (Ke PAI)
Applicant: Jinjiang City, Fujian Province
Gaojia opera, formerly known as "Gejia opera" and "Jiujia opera", is one of the five major operas in Fujian. It was born in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. It was called "Song Jiang Zi" and "Song Jiang Xi" in the early stage, and the name of "Gao Jia Xi" appeared in the late Qing Dynasty.
In the role system of Gaojia opera, ugliness performance is the most characteristic, attractive and influential. Ke Xianxi, a famous clown of a generation, has been active on the stage with his unique performing art for nearly a century, conquering several generations of audiences and creating a new era of Gaojia opera art.
The ugliness of Ko Pai's Gaojia opera can be divided into male ugliness and female ugliness. Male ugliness includes ragged shirt ugliness, childe ugliness, puppet ugliness, costume ugliness, housemaid ugliness and so on. Female ugliness can be played by male characters with unique characteristics. The clown's performance is delicate, vivid, humorous, hot, witty and full of life atmosphere, especially the female clown's performance is exaggerated and humorous. His speech is full of cadence, fluency, accuracy and clear, full of charm, with a strong mountain flavor, which is loved by the audience in Southern Fujian. In the performance of Ke Pai's female clowns, the figure, expression and action were designed according to the age of the characters, forming a complete set of performance program, which can finely distinguish the different characteristics of 17-8-year-old girls, 20-30-year-old young women and 70-80-year-old women. In addition, Koppel also had a set of "Eighteen methods of female clowns", which systematically recorded the performing skills of female clowns. The representative plays often performed by the Ke school in Gaojia opera include Tang Er BIE wife, Zhen Po Da, Guan Fu Song, riding a donkey to visit relatives, etc., while the singing repertoire includes four seasons song, fumalang, Jiang Shui Ling, Qian Qian Hua, Deng Hong Song, etc. The ugly performance art of KEPAI Gaojia opera originated in Southern Fujian, developed in the Philippines, and flourished in Jinjiang, which is closely related to the cultural life of the people in the areas where Minnan dialect is popular. It has witnessed the development history of Southern Fujian with obvious regional cultural characteristics. It is not only the precious historical and cultural wealth of Southern Fujian, but also the spiritual link for overseas Chinese and compatriots from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to maintain their hometown. It has important reference value in the study of folklore, linguistics and local history and culture of Southern Fujian.
