Shuangtang street belongs to Qinhuai District of Nanjing City, which is located in the northwest of Qinhuai District. It was formed in 2002 by merging Shuangtang street and Diaoyutai street. The former Diaoyutai street is located in the southwest of Zhonghuamen castle. Diaoyutai street was established in 1955, changed to Diaoyutai branch of Qinhuai commune in 1960, rebuilt in 1962, and merged into lifuyuan street in 1970. In 1996, it covers an area of 1 square kilometer and has a population of 32000. It has jurisdiction over 15 neighborhood committees, including zhaoniu lane, Shihui lane, Changle street, tangfanglang, Diaoyutai, liujiaojing, Yinma lane, gaogangli, hehuatang, Yingao lane, Mopan street, Mingyang street, hualugang, Fengyou temple and xiganchang lane. The historic sites include cangding ancient well platform and the former residence of Deng Yingzhen, governor of Guangdong and Guangxi.

The main trunk roads are Zhonghua Road, Zhongshan South Road, Jiqing Road, Shengzhou Road, etc. the secondary trunk roads are Xianhe street, Laifeng street, Mingyang street, etc. the subway line 1 runs through the whole area.

There are rich historical and cultural relics in the region. There are 16 cultural relics under provincial, municipal and district protection, including Hujia garden site, Shuiximen site and ancient fenghuangtai site.
