After the establishment of Youyi County in 1960, Dongsheng township was set up. In March 1969, it was renamed the Fourth Battalion of the 18th regiment of the production and Construction Corps. In 1976, friendship farm was restored. In August 1985, the establishment of Dongjian Township in Youyi county was approved. The total area of the township is 150.7 square kilometers, and the cultivated area is 180000 mu. The township has jurisdiction over 13 villages, including Dongjian, Chunhe, Yonglin, Jianxin, Xingwang, Xingfa, Fuqiang, youth, Juxiang, Nianfeng, erzhan, Fajia and Dongbei. In 2008, there were 2401 households in the township, with a total population of 6777, of which the Korean, Manchu and other ethnic minorities accounted for about 3%. The township government is stationed in Dongjian village.
