The township government is 10 kilometers away from the center of the district. Tongxin township is one of the areas where the Qing government transferred Qi Ding for reclamation in the late Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1815-1820). In 1961, Lequn commune, Chaoyang commune, Lanling commune and Xiqin commune set up a new commune named "Tongxin commune". In the spring of 1984, it was changed to Tongxin township. Because it is a place where the Manchu people live together, the Manchu population accounts for 35.7% of the total population of the township. In July 1988, it was changed into Tongxin Manchu Township. Covering an area of 95.3 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 7 administrative villages, 14 natural villages, 103.262 mu of cultivated land, 18685 permanent residents (in 2017). The total area of the township is 100 square kilometers, with cultivated land of 115500 mu. The main crops are corn, soybean, sorghum, flax, sugar beet, etc. Township run industry has agricultural machinery repair, comprehensive processing, brick factory, etc. The township has jurisdiction over 13 villages, including Tongxin, Fucheng, Yubin, Yumin, public security, Xinfu, Zhixiang, Fuxin, Fuqiang, Xinrong, Fuxiang, Fuli and Tongde.
