Xiangfang street is located in the center of Xiangfang City, South to binsui railway line, north to Gongbin Road, east to Hongqi Street, West to binsui railway line. It covers an area of 1.8 square kilometers. Population 41820 (2010).

In 1814 (the 19th year of Jiaqing period), the Xiangfang village was formed here. In 1898, it was occupied by the Russians and became the command center of road construction. In 1903, Xiangfang Street area had begun to take shape as a city street, and became the transportation hub, political and economic center of Harbin, known as "old Harbin". In 1925, after the Chinese government regained the sovereignty of the Middle East Railway, Xiangfang street became the base of the Chinese road guards. During the period of the Japanese occupation in Northeast China, the puppet authorities set up a district office and a police station in Caoyao street, and set up a gendarmerie in Yiyi Street (now Hongqi Street) to exercise military, police, constitutional and special rule. From 1946 to 1958, the CPC Xiangfang District Committee, district government and other organs were established here, becoming the political and economic center of Xiangfang District. In 1948, it was called Guangfu Street government. In October 1954, it was renamed Xiangfang Street sub district office. It was renamed bearing management area in October 1959, bearing branch in 1961, Revolutionary Committee of bearing branch in 1968, Revolutionary Committee of Zhongshan branch in 1969, Revolutionary Committee of Changzheng commune in 1972 and original name of Xiangfang Street sub district office in 1980. In 1990, it covers an area of 1.8 square kilometers and has a population of 28151 people from 7951 households, of which the Han nationality accounts for 95.9%. It governs 15 residents committees and 384 residents groups.
