In August 1949, the residents committee of Zhengdong street was established.

In July 1956, it was changed to Zhengdong Street office.

In March 1959, it was changed into Jiefang Road management area of Qiaodong commune.

In February 1960, it was renamed Jiefang Road branch.

In February 1962, it was renamed Zhengdong Street branch.

In December 1969, it was renamed "May 7th" commune outside the west gate.
