Awati Town, belonging to Bachu County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Bachu county. It is connected with Maigaiti County in the East, Maigaiti county and Shache County in the south, yuepuhu County in the West and yingwustan Township in the north. It is 136 kilometers away from Bachu County, with a total area of 301.8 square kilometers.
During the reign of Guangxu, Awati town was one of the eight villages in Bachu Prefecture; in 1984, Awati commune was changed into Awati town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Awati town was 24103. In 2019, Awati town governs 2 communities and 20 administrative villages.
The main food crops in Awati town are wheat and corn; the main economic crops are cotton; the livestock industry is mainly raising cattle, sheep and poultry.
History of construction
During the reign of Guangxu, it was one of the eight villages in Bachu Prefecture.
In 1958, it merged with akedun district to form Awati commune.
In 1968, Awati commune was changed into Hongwei commune.
In 1977, the name of Awati commune was restored.
In 1984, Awati commune was changed into Awati town.
