Baigutun town is located in the northwest of Wuqing District, Tianjin city. It starts from Beijing Drainage River in the East, connects sicundian town in the south, Chengguan town and dawangguzhuang town in the west, and the West Branch of Fenghe River in the north, with a total area of 51.7 square kilometers and 3545 hectares of cultivated land. It governs 21 administrative villages with a total population of 21617 (2017). The town is a traditional agricultural town with fertile land, rich products, convenient transportation, good ecological environment and developed water system. Local specialties are dongmafang shredded tofu and shaoziying meat pigeon.

Baigutun town has a long history of human culture. Archaeological discoveries show that there are traces of human activities in the Neolithic period 7000 years ago. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, Quanzhou and yongnu counties were set up in Wuqing. In the seventh year of Taiping Zhenjun (446 A.D.) of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Quanzhou was withdrawn to yongnu, and the county seat of yongnu was moved to qiuguzhuang. From the prosperous Tang Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the benefit of water transport, the town's economic development, cultural prosperity, talent. Baigutun village, where the town government of baigutun town is located, is the place where the government of Yuan Dynasty resettled officers surnamed Bai and led military households to build temples and build pagodas. It is called baijiatun pagoda, and the village was originally called baigutun. During the cultural revolution, it was renamed honggutun, and baigutun was restored in 1982. After the founding of new China, the villages of baigutun town were under the jurisdiction of nine districts and one district of Wuqing County. In September 1958, the people's commune was transformed into Chengguan red flag people's commune. Dongmafang commune was established in June 1961, and the commune is located in dongmafang village. In 1968, it was renamed the Revolutionary Committee of dongmafang commune. In 1980, it was renamed dongmafang commune. The residence of the commune was moved to baigutun village. In May 1983, it was renamed dongmafang township. In July 1984, it was renamed baigutun township.
