Shitan Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Zengcheng District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeast of Zengcheng District, Guangzhou city. It is one of the first five demonstration center towns in Guangzhou city. It is located in the core area of Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen. It is an important part of the Pearl River Delta "Golden Corridor" and the eastern plate of Guangzhou.

In 2004, yuanshitan Town, Sanjiang Town and shazhuang street were integrated into one, with Lihu street in the north, Xiancun Town in the west, BOLUO in Huizhou in the East and Dongguan across the river in the south. With a total area of 163.65 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 44 administrative villages and 6 community neighborhood committees, making it the town street with the most administrative villages in Zengcheng district. The total resident population is about 200 thousand, the registered residence population is 121 thousand, and the floating population is about more than 80 thousand. In the region, there are three rivers, Dongjiang, Zengjiang and xifuhe, and the water network is vertical and horizontal.

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Shitan town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Natural environmental resources

Shitan town is a famous land of fish and rice, with flat terrain, fertile land and crisscross water network. Many rivers, such as Zengjiang River, Xifu River, Dongjiang River, Xianjiang River, Lianhe drainage channel, flow through the town. The cultivated land area is 4508.67 hectares, and the forest land area is 746 hectares. There are 13.9 million cubic meters of zengtang reservoir and 749000 cubic meters of dapuwei reservoir. The water resources are rich and the ecology is well maintained. The rural scenery of the water town is everywhere, and a large area of land is available for development and utilization.
