Gaolintun breeding stock farm

Gaolintun breeding stock farm was founded in 1955. It belongs to a department level state-owned institution with enterprise management. It is mainly responsible for the breeding of Simmental cattle. It is the main breeding base of improved breed cattle in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and one of the national key Simmental cattle breeding farms.

The farm is located in Horqin district, covering an area of 250000 mu, including 120000 mu of pasture, 40000 mu of grassland, 40000 mu of cultivated land and 25000 mu of woodland. The total annual yield of grain and beans in the whole farm is 18 million catties, the annual harvest is 5 million catties of hay, 6 million catties of corn silage, 20 million catties of crop straw can be fed, and the forage is basically self-sufficient. The total population was 4297 (2010). 12 people with senior and intermediate professional titles. The general field has 10 functional departments, 7 branches and 8 economic entities. There are 6.55 million yuan of fixed assets, 4.8 million yuan of current assets, and 26.8 million yuan of total income of all industries. In the past 50 years, gaolintun breeding stock farm has always adhered to the principle of "breeding livestock first, combining agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry, diversified management and all-round development". Breeding livestock business has been growing. There are 450 purebred Simmental cattle (public), including 200 special and first-class basic cows and 1800 Chinese Simmental cattle of grassland type. More than 1000 high-quality Simmental cattle have been promoted to 20 provinces and regions in China. The appearance and growth level of all kinds of cattle have reached or exceeded the national standard of Simmental cattle, and they have become the breeding purebred cattle in China The breeding stock farm with the largest number of Simmental cattle is one of the national key Simmental cattle breeding farms.
