Xinchang Town

Xinchang Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Yuechi County, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province, is located in the southwest of Yuechi County, adjacent to Jiulong Town and Chaoyang Township in the East, Baimiao town in the north, longkong town and pailou Township in the west, and Sanxi town in wusheng County in the south, with a total population of 18711 (2017), and a total jurisdiction area of 41.2 square kilometers.

history

Xinchang Town, which has experienced many planning adjustments in history, is composed of Duanqiao Township in Yuechi County, Xinchang Township and Tashui Township in wusheng County.

In 1921, Xinchang Township and Tashui township of wusheng County were established respectively.

In 1945, Hexi township of Yuechi County was established, which was under the fifth jurisdiction in the 34th year of the Republic of China.

In 1952, Xinchang Township and Tashui township of wusheng County were assigned to Yuechi County, and Li'an township of Yuechi County was assigned to wusheng County.

In 1954, Hexi township was renamed Duanqiao township.

In 1956, Duanqiao township (merged into Xinchang township) and Tashui Township were abolished.

In September 1958, Xinchang township was incorporated into the Dianguang commune, and the tap water commune was established.

In 1961, Dianguang commune was abolished, Xinchang township was restored, and Xinchang commune was established.

In September 1966, Xinchang commune was renamed Yonghong commune, and Tashui commune was renamed Xiangdong commune.

In 1981, Yonghong (Xinchang) commune was renamed Duanqiao commune, while Tashui commune remained unchanged.

In 1984, Duanqiao commune and Xiangdong commune were abolished and Duanqiao Township and Tashui Township were restored.

In 1992, Ta Shui township was abolished and merged into Duanqiao township.

In 2001, Duanqiao township was abolished and Xinchang Town was established.

In 2003, Yuechi County carried out district planning adjustment, Xinchang Town was put under the jurisdiction of Baimiao town.

Xinchang Town is located in the southwest of Yuechi County, 11 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 41.2 square kilometers. In the early days of its establishment, Xinchang Town experienced 16 times of frequent adjustments.
