Historical evolution

Dongsheng Street, as the seat of Shuangliu district Party committee and government, has been the seat of the county since the first year of Renshou in Sui Dynasty (601). After several changes of name, it was successively called Chenghui, Chengxiang, Chengzhong District, Zhongxin town and Chengguan town.

Dongsheng, originally just the name of a small bridge on the edge of the old city. The bridge was named after the rising sun when it was laying its foundation. The location of the bridge is probably at the intersection of Shuangliu market and Chuanzang road. Its administrative village was also named Dongsheng Village because of the bridge.

Dongsheng township: it was called Shuanghua Township before and after liberation, and changed its name to Central Township in 1957; Central People's commune was established in 1958; it was under the jurisdiction of Wenjiang County in 1959 and merged with Yongfu commune and Chengguan town to form Shuangliu commune; in 1962, the two counties were separated and changed into central commune, which was renamed as Tuanjie commune in 1972 because of the same sound as Zhongxing commune in Huayang. In 1983, the county implemented the "separation of government and society", and the United commune was renamed Dongsheng township. The reason is that the government office was located in Dongsheng Village.

Xuantong three years (1911), inside and outside the county once called Chengxiang, set up Chenghui.

In 1937, it was renamed Chengxiang Lianbao.

In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it changed its name to central town and set up a town office.

It was renamed Chengguan town in 1957.

In 1992, Dongsheng township, Yongfu Township and Chengguan town were abolished, and Dongsheng town of Shuangliu County was merged.

On May 30, 1996, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, the administrative divisions of Tongjiang, Jinhua, Jiujiang and Dongsheng towns were adjusted. The seven villages of Gaolin, Jinxing, Longqiao, Shuanghe, Yingchun, rongshousi and Shuanggui under the jurisdiction of Jinhua town are under the jurisdiction of Dongsheng town.

In 2004, Dongsheng town was abolished and the sub district office management system was implemented.

In October 2014, Tianfu new area was promoted to a national level new area, and Dongsheng area is within the planning scope of Sichuan Tianfu new area.
