Zhaoxing Town, subordinate to Liping County, Guizhou Province, is located in the southeast of Liping County, 42 kilometers away from the county. The town covers an area of 133 square kilometers, with 22 administrative villages and more than 23000 people. Dong, Miao, Shui, Han and other ethnic groups live in concentrated communities, of which the Dong population accounts for more than 90%. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhaodong was under the jurisdiction of Fulu yongcong county and yongcong county. It was established as Zhaodong Township in 1941 and Zhaoxing Township in 1944.

In December 1950, Zhaoxing township was set up; in 1957, it was set up as Zhaoxing film; in 1958, it was set up as Changfeng people's Commune and later renamed as Zhaoxing people's commune; in May 1984, it was changed into Zhaoxing township; in January 1992, Pilin Township and Xinping Township were abolished and merged into Zhaoxing township; in January 2013, it was withdrawn from township to town.

In 1993, Zhaoxing was named as the hometown of Drum Tower culture and art by the Provincial Department of culture. in 1999, it was listed as one of the nine key ethnic villages in the province. In 2001, Zhaoxing Dongzhai and Gulou group were listed in the Guinness record of the world. It was approved as a national key scenic spot in 2004. In 2005, he was rated as one of the "six most beautiful ancient towns and villages in China" by China National Geographic magazine. in 2012, it was listed as one of the 30 provincial demonstration towns in the province. The town district is Zhaoxing Dong village, which is also the core scenic spot of Zhaoxing town. It governs Zhaoxing village, Zhaoxing Zhongzhai village and Zhaoxing Shangzhai village, with 22 villager groups. There are more than 1100 households and more than 4000 people in the village. All of them are Dong nationality. It is the largest natural village of Dong Nationality in China, known as "thousand households Dong village" and "the first village of Dong township". The per capita income of farmers in Zhaoxing town is more than 3700 yuan, the income of core scenic spots is more than 5000 yuan, and half of the income of farmers comes from tourism.
