Yongfeng was formerly known as baijiazhongpu. In 1911, it was revised and renamed "Yongfeng", meaning a bumper harvest in Yongnian. In 1965, the three townships of Fanji, Nandun and Dingji set up some brigades and established Yongfeng commune. It was changed to Yongfeng Township in 1983. In 1997, it covers an area of 72.8 square kilometers and has a population of 56000.
