Linjiang township is under the jurisdiction of Tongjiang City. It is located in the northeast of the city, on the South Bank of Heilongjiang Province, adjacent to Qindeli farm in the West and across the river from Russia in the north. The township government is 100 kilometers away from the urban area.

Linjiang township is named because it is close to Heilongjiang. Linjiang commune was established in January 1979. It was changed to Linjiang Township in 1984. Jurisdiction belongs to the plain area, low-lying. The total area of the township is 218.5 square kilometers, including 80000 mu of grassland, 74000 mu of woodland and 92000 mu of cultivated land, mainly planted with wheat and soybean. The township has jurisdiction over 16 villages including Fuguang, Chunlei, Fuyu, Mingzhu, Fujiang, Fuxing, Fuguo, Furao, Fuqiang, Linjiang, Fumin, Dongjian, Fuyuan, Fuchuan, Fuhua and Chunchao. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 4640. The township government is located in Linjiang village.
