Mingyue Town

Mingyue Town is located 13 kilometers to the west of Pengxi county. Pengshe highway passes through the town. It is adjacent to Chicheng, Changle, BaoFan, Banqiao and other towns in the county, covering an area of 49.37 square kilometers. It governs 21 villagers' committees and 2 community residents' committees, with a total population of 23274 (2017). The built-up area of the town is 0.62 square kilometers, and the planned area is 1.67 square kilometers. There are 1346 households and 3136 population in the town.

On August 31, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Suining City to adjust the administrative divisions of some townships: cancel Huishui Township and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Mingyue Town, and Mingyue Town People's government is stationed at No. 2 Wangyue street.

Evolution of organizational system

In the early Qing Dynasty, mingyuechang was set up, which got its name from the picturesque mountain peak in the shape of a crescent moon. Mingyue township was built in 1937. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, mingyuechang was the residence of township and district. In September 1992, Mingyue, Huishui and Minjian were merged to build Mingyue Town. The town is located at mingyuechang, 14km away from the county seat.

Gaodong Buddhist monastery was built in the Tang Dynasty. In the early years of Chongning (1102-1106), Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, it was named "Fengze" and dedicated to Li Hong, an incorruptible official of the Northern Song Dynasty. The main hall, bell and Drum Tower, teaching building and other buildings with an area of more than 20000 square meters have been built. Gaodong Buddhist temple has launched the development plan of striving to create a national 3A scenic spot, striving to successfully create a national 3A scenic spot.

Gaodong temple is a cultural relic under municipal protection. It was built in the Tang Dynasty.
