Longjing town

Longjing town is located in the middle of Qingxin District, Qingyuan City. It is the South Gate of Binjiang area, adjacent to Bijia forest farm in the East, Heyun town in the north, Guangning County in the West and Taihe Town in the south. The town has a total area of 553.38 square kilometers (2017), with a cultivated area of 42237 mu, including 39141 mu of paddy field; 741000 mu of mountain forest, including 56000 mu of mountain area below 25 degree slope. There are 36 villages, 4 communities, 771 villager groups and 80674 people in the territory (2017). There are Zhukeng polder, Chetou polder, Hedong polder, Shima polder, Pinggang polder, Baishi polder, Shikan polder, Longjing polder and so on. The town government is stationed in Longjing polder.

The residents of Longjing town are all of Han nationality, and their language is Qingyuan vernacular with local color. Some natural villages are mainly Hakka. Most of the residents in the town moved southward from the Central Plains provinces, and their language, beliefs, social etiquette and housing structure were the same as those in the riverside area. According to the research, during the Qin and Han Dynasties, the residents had already moved in from the Central Plains, while during the Tang and Song Dynasties, more of them came from Zhuji, now Nanxiong. The six most populous surnames in the town were Chen, Liang, Luo, Huang, he and Li. At present, there are still ten ancestral temples and other ancient buildings in beidawei village. Longjing town is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, with about 15000 overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan living abroad.

Historical evolution

Longjing has a long history. In the Han Dynasty, it was Zhongsu county (the predecessor of Qingyuan County), and in the Sui Dynasty, it was the seat of Zhengbin county.

During the Anti Japanese War (November 1941 to September 1945), it was the seat of Qingyuan County.

In May 1950, Qingyuan county established the former Binjiang District as the Fifth District. The district government was set up in Longjing, and the people's Government of Longjing district was set up. It has jurisdiction over five townships: Longjing, Nanchong, Shikan, Zhukeng and Hedong.

In 1953, the people's Government of Longjing district was transformed into 14 district offices.

In August 1957, Longjing Township and Shima Township were merged into Longma people's commune.

In June 1959, Longma commune was separated into Longjing commune, Shikan commune, Nanchong commune and Shima commune.

In December 1979, Longjing commune was divided into Zhukeng commune.

In November 1983, Longjing commune was transformed into Longjing District Office, which has jurisdiction over seven brigades, including military camp, Xikeng, Shichong, Gonghe, Longdong, Longbei and Jingkou.

In 1986, the town was built in winter.

In June 2003, Zhukeng town was abolished and merged into Longjing town.

In May 2004, Shima Town, Nanchong town and Shikan town were abolished and merged into Longjing town.

In 2010, six large-scale industrial projects were successfully introduced, and six enterprises above designated size were developed and integrated. After the successful construction of Pearl Industrial Park and Hedong Industrial Park, the 29th industrial transfer park, Chancheng (Qingxin) industrial transfer park (Yunlong Industrial Park) in Foshan, has been established in Longjing town and Heyun town. In 2014, Longjing town continued to increase investment promotion and accelerated the construction of key projects. The Qixinggang wind farm of Guodian, with a total investment of about 420 million yuan, has completed the land use pre examination, site selection, environmental impact assessment and other procedures, and is in the stage of project bidding. Evergrande splendor phase 4 has invested more than 60 million yuan, and plans to launch 80 double Villas by the end of this year.
