Nanping Town

Nanping Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Helong City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, is located in the southeast of Helong City, on the left bank of the upper reaches of Tumen River. It faces Maoshan County across Tumen River in the East, Chongshan town in the south, Longcheng town in the West and Fudong town in the north, with an administrative area of 688.91 square kilometers.

Nanping town was formerly known as Dehua town; in 1928, it belonged to Dehua society in the Fourth District of Helong County; in December 1998, Luguo town and Yonghua Township were merged and renamed Nanping town. By the end of 2018, the population of Nanping town registered residence was 6088. As of June 2020, Nanping town has one community and eight administrative villages.

History of construction

Nanping town was formerly known as Dehua town.

In 1886, anyuanbao was set up.

In 1892, Dehua society was established.

During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Dehua society of Anyuan Township, Helong county.

In 1928, it belonged to Dehua society, the Fourth District of Helong county.

In August 1936, Dehua village was changed.

In July 1940, five villages of Shanhua society were included.

In January 1946, Dehua district was changed.

In March 1956, it was divided into Nanping, Liudong and Luguo townships.

In August 1958, Nanping and Liudong townships merged into Dehua township; in September of the same year, they merged with Luguo Township into Dehua commune.

In August 1962, Luguo commune emerged.

In July 1983, Luguo commune was transformed into a township.

In April 1986, Luguo township was transformed into a town.

In December 1998, Luguo town and Yonghua Township were merged and renamed Nanping town.
