Longmen sub district office is located on the East Bank of the middle reaches of Jialing River, 12 kilometers away from the municipal and district governments. It covers an area of 40 square kilometers, with 1308 hectares of arable land. It has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages, 129 villager groups, 5 community neighborhood committees and 50 resident groups. The total population of the district is 63000, including 37000 permanent residents.

Historical evolution

Longmen town was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was one of the five major market towns in Sichuan in the Southern Song Dynasty. It was the seat of Nanchong county Party committee and government at the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China. It was the residence of Xinmin District Office for 40 years after the 1950s. In 1995, it was listed as the national pilot town of small town construction, in 2003, it was listed as the national key town of small town construction, and in 2009, it was listed as the priority development key town by the district Party committee and the district government. Longmen was incorporated into the northern New Town Construction in the seventh urban master plan revision. In December 2011, Longmen sub district office was built

Community profile

The built-up area of the town is 3.8 square kilometers (1.5 square kilometers of the old city); there are 43 streets, 170000 square meters; and the building area is 1.36 million square meters. The municipal facilities include 4 specialized markets, 1 110kV substation and 1 35kV substation, and the daily supply of natural gas and tap water is 15000 cubic meters and 12000 cubic meters. Education covers all levels from preschool education to junior college, including one higher vocational school (Nanchong normal school), one senior high school (Longmen middle school), one junior high school (Longmen No.1 Middle School), four primary schools and one kindergarten, with 15000 teachers and students. There are 76 state-owned and private hospitals, including the second hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, Longmen Central Hospital, longyiguan orthopedics department, Jiang's orthopedics department, etc., with 580 beds. Industrial and commercial enterprises continue to develop, with 178 enterprises in the town, mainly in textile and catering, including 9 Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size, with an annual output value of 820 million yuan.
