Dongsheng township

Dongsheng township is under the jurisdiction of Yichun District, Yichun city. Located in the middle of the city, on the East Bank of Tangwang River, the township government is 4 kilometers away from the center of the city. The township has jurisdiction over 7 villages including Dongsheng. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 6543, of which Manchu, Hui, Korean, Mongolian and other ethnic minorities accounted for about 2.5%.

Historical evolution

Dongsheng township was originally under the jurisdiction of Tangyuan county. In January 1948, 60 immigrants from Jiamusi city settled here and established jiajietun, which was transferred to Yichun County in 1952. In 1956, Dongsheng agricultural cooperative was established under Yichun town. In 1958, two agricultural cooperatives, liming and Dongsheng, were transformed into management areas. In December 1962, Dongsheng people's commune was established. In April 1984, it was changed to Dongsheng township.
