Dongsheng township

Dongsheng township is under the jurisdiction of Bayan County. Located in the east of the county, east of Shaoling River, adjacent to Mulan county. The township government is 40 kilometers away from the county seat. Originally under the jurisdiction of waxing District of Bayan County (later changed to the seventh district). In March 1956, Dongsheng township was set up by combining villages with townships. In September 1958, it was renamed Dongsheng people's commune. In November of the same year, it was merged into waxing commune. In April 1959, Dongsheng commune was set up from waxing commune and merged with waxing commune at the end of the same year. In April 1961, Dongsheng commune was set up again. In February 1984, it was changed to Dongsheng township. Later, it was merged into Heishan town.

Dongsheng township is located in a semi mountainous area. Xinglong wuyapao forest railway passes through the south of the township. The township covers a total area of 115.2 square kilometers, with a cultivated area of 76000 mu. It mainly grows corn, soybean and rice, and uses natural conditions to plant Chinese herbal medicine. The township governs 8 villages including Dongsheng, dongle, Changsheng, Minle, Xinsheng, Shengshan, Xingshan and Liangzhong. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 11000. The township government is located in yaojiagangtun, Changsheng village.
