Lianhua township is located in Anju District, Suining City, Sichuan Province.

administrative division

The original Lianhua township is adjacent to Liangfeng Township in the East, Lanjiang Township in the south, Zhenwu Township in the west, and riverside town in Pengxi County in the north, with a population of 12636 (2017). It is divided into nine villages: Lianhua, Taihe, huilongqiao, Shengxian, hualiangwan, Duanqiao, Xiaobeigou, Shanggou and Shilu. The township government is located in Lianhua temple.

Historical evolution

Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Lianhua township was under the jurisdiction of Lanjiang town. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Lianhua township was established in August 1950. In 1951, Guangfu township was set up in Lianhua township. In 1955, Guangfu township was partially merged into Lianhua township. In October 1956, the two townships were separated again. In 1958, it was the Lotus management area of Lanjiang people's commune. In 1961, Lianhua people's commune was established. In 1984, it was renamed Lianhua township. Yuanzhenwu township is adjacent to Lianhua and Lanjiang townships in the East, Mahe Township in the south, Lezhi county in the West and Daying Township in Pengxi County in the north. Population (1984) 10676, divided into hongjiayan, Dabeigou, zhenwushan, Berlin, jieshaosi, fuxingyan, Qianfoyan, shuangfushi, sanhezhai 9 villages, township government is located in the wangjiaci hall. During the period of the Republic of China, Zhenwu township was under the jurisdiction of Lanjiang town. In 1951, Bolin township (Zhenwu's old name) was set up. It is said that Bolin township was bought by Wang family of Qing Dynasty in exchange for Bai Ling, so Bai Ling's homonym "Bolin" was used to name it. In 1958, it was renamed as the Berlin administrative area of Lanjiang people's commune. In 1961, it was established as the Berlin people's commune. In 1981, it was renamed Zhenwu people's commune. It was named after Zhenwu mountain in the township. In 1984, it was renamed Zhenwu township. In 1992, Lianhua Township and Zhenwu Township were combined and named Lianhua Township, Shizhong District, Suining City. It has a population of 22336 and covers an area of 37.3 km. It is divided into 18 administrative villages and 163 communities. Junior middle schools include Lianhua Township Middle School and Zhenwu middle school. In 2003, Anju district was established with the approval of the State Council, and Lianhua township was renamed Lianhua Township, Anju District, Suining City.

Lianhua township is one of the most remote villages and towns in Anju District, postcode: 629009. It is located at the boundary of the three counties, with Lezhi in the west, Daying County in the north, and Lanjiang town in the East and south. It is a typical agricultural township, mainly producing corn, sweet potato and rice, with 2000 mu of green pepper base, 3000 mu of corn seed production base, and 2000 mu of walnut and golden pear forest.
