Jinsha town was a place of Southwest Barbarians in ancient times. During the Shang, Zhou and Qin Dynasties, there were ethnic minorities scattered. In 135 BC (the sixth year of Jianyuan of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty), mantis county was set up in Huanglang town beside Mahu. In the end of Han Dynasty, it was changed into Qianjie county (the water flows from the street, and now the water of Huanglang Xiaohaizi flows from the street). It belongs to Qianwei county. In the third year of Jianxing of Shu Han Dynasty, it was changed into Mahu County, which is one of the Three Kingdoms There are many remains and legends related to the Three Kingdoms. In the yuan and Ming Dynasties, Mahu government was set up in Huanglang and its surrounding areas. In the Qing Dynasty, Leibo Hall (Wei) was set up in the current county seat. In 1914 (the second year of the Republic of China), the hall was changed into a county, and Leibo County Magistrate's office was set up. In August 1950, Leibo County People's government was set up, which was subordinate to Leshan District of Sichuan Province. In 1956, Leibo district was assigned to Liangshan Yi nationality Since then, in April 1960, Wagang county has been merged into Leibo County.
On June 12, 2020, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Liangshan Prefecture to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in Yanyuan County and other five counties (cfzm [2020] No. 7): PAHA township was abolished and its administrative area was put under the jurisdiction of Jinsha Town, and the people's Government of Jinsha town was stationed in Jinyan village to the diplomatic access road huangjuebao No. 1.
