Yutan town belongs to Jingyue high tech Zone, a national high tech Zone, 11 kilometers away from Changchun City, the capital city of Jilin Province. Yutan town is located in the southeast of Changchun City, close to the Bank of Jingyuetan, with a total area of 112 square kilometers. It is adjacent to Quannong Township and Sandao town of Erdao District in the East, Qiling township of Shuangyang District and Xinhu town of Jingyue Development Zone in the south, Xinli Town and Yongxing street of Jingyue Development Zone in the west, Jingyue street of Jingyue Development Zone and Sandao town of Erdao District in the north.

Historical evolution

Yutan town was established as an agricultural and Forestry Township in 1956, and changed into a red flag commune in 1958. In May 1966, it was established as an agricultural and forestry commune in Xiaoqu District of Changchun City. In November 1983, it was established as an agricultural and Forestry Township People's Government in the suburbs of Changchun city. In September 1995, it was put under the jurisdiction of Jingyue Development Zone in the suburbs of Changchun City. Yutan town is rich in natural resources. The town has 3329.9 hectares of arable land, 1312.4 hectares of forest land, 3 small reservoirs and 10500 square meters of water surface area. Yutan town has unique tourism resources. There are more than 550 kinds of higher plants, including edible fungi such as Shandan, Paeonia lactiflora, Pteridium aquilinum and daylily, and medicinal plants such as Angelica sinensis, bathshen, Shashen and asarum. There are 82 species of wild vertebrates, 65 species of birds, 75 species of invertebrates and insects.
